It will be nice to have available the same template as the one for [wordpress.org/about] in the Rosetta sites so we can have the left sidebar for child pages.

As far as I'm aware of, there are currently no plans to make the blog sidebar customizable or extend that to pages. Pending a design update for WordPress.org's about pages, we should determine what that outcome is and extend that to all sites.
