Description

Hi All,

I was wondering if there was a way of implementing a box or something that prevents emails from being sent out to subscribers should the site still be on it's holding page.

Basically, in editing the posts associated with the Manchester WordCamp site (http://manchester.wordcamp.org/2015), I edited the Call for Sponsors page and accidentally hit publish. I then immediately returned it to draft as it wasn't ready, but potential sponsors did read it and offer to sponsor the camp.

It's a nice problem to have :) - but I feel that potential sponsors could be put off if they go to the site and cannot see anything but the holding page (a couple of people mentioned it).

I had the same problem for Cape Town last year - published the calls for sponsors and volunteers and then was flooded with applications from the contact form on the coming soon page. So this is just a +1 on this from me :)

Are you using the Coming Soon plugin? If so, #859 is related, and may solve the issue in a different way.

If not, how would the code know when the site is live?

If we prevented the e-mails from going out when the post is published, then we'd also need a way to manually trigger the notifications after the site is live. That should be possible, though.

  • Resolution set to duplicate
  • Status changed from new to closed

Closing since there was no response and #859 will probably fix this. Feel free to re-open if you feel like #859 won't do it.
