Ticket #122, comment 8
v3 v4 3 3 My opinion is to keep BuddyPress where it is, and add a bbPress section. The greater part of the past few years have been spent improving integration of the bb's into the overall WordPress experience, and I think it's helped all of the projects equally (though the bb's benefit more in other obvious ways.) An example of this is having BuddyPress and bbPress plugins and themes available through WordPress.org rather than via their own repositories, but because those repositories have an API, those results can be made available natively on BuddyPress.org and bbPress.org. 4 4 5 The WordPress way to solve the showcase dilemma is for the Showcase shouldto have an API similar to plugins and themes -- 1 central repository for showcasing all kinds of WordPress sites that plugin & theme authors can use on their own sites rather than opting into launching and maintaining their own.5 The WordPress way to solve the showcase dilemma is for the Showcase to have an API similar to plugins and themes -- 1 central repository for showcasing all kinds of WordPress sites that plugin & theme authors can use on their own sites rather than opting into launching and maintaining their own.
