Adding link and notification to @username in support posts

I've been noticing that a lot of people in the support forums and theme/plugin support forums use @username to address who they're responding to.

What I would love to see is the @username automatically change to a link for that specific user's profile, and also send them a notification that someone's mentioned them in a post.

We already have notifications for @ mentions. See ​https://profiles.wordpress.org/deviodigital/profile/notifications/ to configure yours.

Next to each post is some basic author information etc including a link to the user profile so I think that should suffice for now until we switch to bbPress 2.x, as bbPress 2.x does include this functionality though to automatically convert @usernames to a profile link.
