Disable Jetpack's holiday snow

Reported by: johnbillion's profile johnbillion Owned by: kovshenin's profile kovshenin

Description

Jetpack's holiday snow module is an embarrassment to Jetpack, causes exceptionally high CPU usage, and causes many accessibility problems. I've noticed it in use on some wordcamp.org sites. It should be disabled globally on the wordcamp.org/wordpress.org networks.

It IS an embarrassment not to Jetpack but to WordPress as a whole

+1 for the one and only reason that I’m forced to immediately leave any site with that module enabled. I’m on a late 2011 MacBook Pro. CPU goes through the roof, scrolling freezes (sic!), site becomes literally inaccessible for me.

I even like the effect visually, it’s just that its implementation prevents me from accessing more and more sites during this season. If we could keep wordpress.org and wordcamp.org network sites accessible, it’d be a nice move for people on older devices.

I think "an embarassment" is a bit far to go in describing it, but I agree that it should be disabled on wordcamp.org for accessibility and performance reasons.
