Lightbox Plugin Screenshots

Description

There are still theme devs not uploading images with the correct MIME type resulting in images immediately downloading when clicked on from the screenshots/description tab.

Even though some go to a new page...UX wise it would be better if screenshots opened in a lightbox.

Nice first ticket Uriahs!

I agree that screenshots should be handled more elegantly in the plugin repo. Both the download and the open in a new window options really aren't nice at all.

Using Magnifique or even a WordPress-based lightbox like FooBox.js would be really easy to implement.

But I wouldn't label this a defect, it's more of an enhancement that you're requesting.

The new plugin directory will likely have a completely different design, showing the screenshots in some different fashion. Therefore this is currently a "wontfix" for the existing plugin directory, as the new directory will replace it. Design considerations will need to be adjusted at that time.

We may use a lightbox mechanism or not, it's currently uncertain. Regardless, the mime-type issue will be solved there.
