Description

I just received two email messages from my worum-level subscription:

Subject: [WordPress.org Forums] Importing Photoshop IPTC data into WordPress

It looks like someone has posted these updates to a topic:

https://wordpress.org/support/topic/importing-photoshop-iptc-data-into-wordpress/#post-8430055

https://wordpress.org/support/topic/importing-photoshop-iptc-data-into-wordpress/#post-8430118

If I click on the link(s) the topic is displayed but neither of the new posts is included. Also, the topic is marked "closed to new replies" even though it is only 8 months old.

Hi,

It's not uncommon for moderators to manually close topics if they're that old and someone posts to them, and also archives the replies that were added after the fact.

This is what has happened here, a 3rd party started posting to someone elses old topic, so it was closed and the non-related replies were archived.

@Clorith

Thanks for your quick reply and for explaining what happened. In this case, someone has posted a legitimate question about an aspect of the original posts.

Will they receive any indication that their updates have been archived and there is no way for me to respond? I am afraid they will think I am just ignoring them.

I'm afraid not, there's no automated response to archived messages, usually we'll leave a response in those cases before we close a thread, not sure why it hasn't been done in this case but I've left one now so your user isn't left hanging :)

@Clorith - Thanks for your update and your attempt to post a clarifying response in the topic. I have just re-visited the topic in question and I don't see any new post there; does something else need to be done to make the response visible?

@dglingren He didn't make the response visible intentionally. The response was emailed to the poster through their subscription to the topic.
