Description
Hi there,
Having the ability to rate a session you attended (or the speaker) would be a great way to allow speakers to improve their talks from feedback. I know sessions are a CPT so maybe it's just a case of opening comments and adding the ability to rate it.
However, I wonder if it would be a better idea to have it in a central place like on your WordPress.org profile?
The example I'm looking at is https://joind.in/ which a lot of the PHP community uses.

@Kenshino great, thanks for the feedback. I agree on having written reviews. The only issue I see is that it should probably have an option to be anonymous as honest feedback would help speakers.
I think ratings still do help as it's a quicker way to get feedback and understand which talks people prefer. So if I do 2 talks and talk A has a higher rating then I could use that talk at another WordCamp.
Putting it globally: I think a way around that would be to only show ratings after a certain amount of talks and / or ratings. I do think global ratings should be a discussion for a later time (depending on what happens with ratings anyway).

This is something the Community team has been wanting to do for a while, but so far it hasn't made it to the top of the list.
Before anyone works on a patch, the team needs to discuss what features it should have, how it should work, etc. That discussion needs to happen on the p2 and in Slack, since most of the team members don't follow Trac.

As per @melchoyce idea, why not using the input from WordPress.tv and youtube.com/wordpress?
Or to think even further: is it not sufficient to read it there? Do we need it somewhere else?

Hey @seags , thanks for posting a ticket :)
RE: Rating to help improve. Ratings don't actually help. Real written reviews do.
Putting it globally -
That sounds like a quick way for new speakers to get shamed globally, remain at 1 star rating and stop speaking entirely.
