#284 closed enhancement (fixed)

"Follow" options for threads

Description

While I doubt more people would remember to use it, having a 'like' button (like we do for trac) that behaved similarly would give us the ability to allow people to follow a post without having to reply "Me too!"

Possibilities:

For a support thread (i.e. 'not resolved') - "Having this problem? Click here to follow the post via email."

Then their gravatar shows up on the side bar "Also having this issue ...." so someone could see "Hey, 22 people are having the SAME problem!?"

At the very least, a way to 'click here to follow by email...' is needed. I know that exists for bbPress 2.x so we may need to wait on that :(

You can click "Subscribe to Topic" in the sidebar, it just isn't very obvious.

Follow by email already exists. The link labeled "Subscribe to Topic" in the sidebar does exactly that.

It's getting missed by everyone... Can it get an icon or something? Maybe those shoudl be higher up?

(And showing how many people are following might be a good way to indicate 'attractiveness' of a problem?)

The new forum theme introduces a nice big "Subscribe" button, and not just a tiny text link, it was very apparent that it's there now, and I think we can close this out as fixed in the new theme, thoughts?

Not a huge fan of the "same problem" aspect of it, knowing how different every setup truly is at the root of it all and how rarely it -is- the same issue :)
