Description (last modified by )
On the Community Team we have discussed the need for additional functionality on the Make blogs that allows us to post a 'top comment' that sums up the discussion on the thread in a clear and highlighted manner. This is similar to the 'accepted answer' function on sites like Stack Exchange.
I have built this functionality in a plugin called 'The Final Word' and would very much like to see it installed on the Make blogs, but not sure of the process for this kind of thing.
You can find the plugin on the Plugin Directory and on GitHub.
I've commented the plugin heavily, so it should be easy to navigate, but happy to answer any questions here and provide any additional information as needed.

The screenshots above are from my local dev environment, hence the lack of general prettiness and such (O2 isn't exactly the easiest thing to get setup and looking good).

Added nonce and permission checks for security to the plugin. All updated on the Directory and on GitHub.

FWIW I added a top_comment_label
filter, so we can call the top comment anything we like on the front end.
Here's the correct Plugin Directory link: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-final-word/
