It would be nice to see a header image, like the plugins repo has in the themes directory.

While it is nice to have the screenshot, a nice big header image would be nice.

Sorry, but this is just something that will likely not happen. Even in the new theme repo the design doesn't call for it.
If it's any consolidation, eventually we'll have more than one screenshot, to show off themes.
