Update WordPress.org username

I'd like to update my .ORG username (@jbpaul17) so that it will match my Slack username (@jeffpaul). I’ve noticed a couple Make posts trying to ping me but using the “wrong” .ORG username. I’ve checked with the current person in possession of the @jeffpaul .ORG username and they’re fine to hand over to me as they’re otherwise inactive. I’m trying to make it easier for people to know how to properly ping me for help or whatever on things.

So, assuming this is feasible, can you please help update the username on my account?

By and large, that is not possible.

If you want to stop using jbpaul17 and switch to the new username, then go right ahead. If you have the account, then just start using it and stop using the old one.

However, the username on w.org is the same one as used by trac and SVN. Basically, you will lose the history there. This ticket was created by jbpaul17, it was not created by jeffpaul. Changing the name on w.org doesn't change the tickets in trac or the history of the SVN systems.

Thanks @Otto42, good to understand the options. It'll suck to lose the history behind @jbpau17 but for ease of use between .ORG and Slack I'll work on using the @jeffpaul account.
