#3754 closed defect (wontfix)

Trac notification truncates URL breaking the reference

Reported by: garrett-eclipse Owned by:

Component: Trac Keywords:

Just came across this in a Trac notification. It seems if the URL is too long it gets truncated in the email which breaks the link as it's no longer valid.

For example the notification generated by this comment has two links;

In the resulting email both are truncated and since gmail auto-links them they're clickable but take you to an invalid page.

Checking the length they're different in where they break the contents but it seems it'll only break at the path slash / character.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

As this isn't something we've customised in Trac, I'm going to close this as wontfix.

I don't believe we want to add any further customisations on top of Trac either.

This bug is being tracked upstream in Trac, but doesn't look like there's much movement: https://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/10450

Thanks @dd32 no worries, I added a plusone to the ticket upstream there in hopes of resuscitating it. Cheers
