Could we perhaps add an "In Progress" status to the Planning Checklist items on WordCamp Dashboards? right now i cannot filter by currently-being-worked-on tasks.

It seems like the current Pending status already fills that role, so maybe it'd be better to create a new Incomplete status, and make that the default instead of Pending?

I agree, a new default status of Incomplete would make sense. And perhaps change the label for the pending status to In Progress so that it's a bit more clear what it should be used for.
