WordPress News emails should contain Google Analytics tracking links

Description
The "WordPress News" email newsletters which are sent out (which appear to be a reformatted digest of https://wordpress.org/news/2019/08/the-month-in-wordpress-july-2019/) should automatically append the following tracking string to all links:
#utm_medium=email&utm_source=wordpress-news
Failure to do this (as at present) results in these visits being reported as 'direct traffic' (i.e., no referrer/medium), which pollutes our understanding of the origin and behaviour of traffic on the website.

If they are the Jetpack Emails (Identifiable by the WordPress.com / Jetpack links in the footer and the blue upper/lower bars) then unfortunately Jetpack does not support altering these links, as the email is sent from WordPress.com rather than the WordPress.org site, and this is a wontfix

Well.. I didn't intend to close the ticket, but since I have, marking it as wontfix
. Re-open if it's not Jetpack emails and is something WordPress.org-specific being referenced.

Thanks, that's a Jetpack subscription email.
Jetpack subscriptions don't support adding tracking links, and WordPress.org can't filter/edit the template or content.
Unfortunately, right now this is only fixable by switching to another subscription engine, something we're unable to do at this time. For now, I'll closing as maybelater
, I know that's not ideal, but unless Jetpack adds support there's no point keeeping this open.
Looking upstream, I don't see any requests to add the functionality, but there's a stale request to add Jetpack Stats for opening rates: https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/6513
Just to confirm, you're referring to the Jetpack-based subscription emails you get when you use the
Subscribe to WordPress News
link in the sidebar of that site, correct?
