Description
Hi,
A summary here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/comments/ic0lmt/wordpress_showcase_bad_sites/
TL;DR:
The showcase section as it is is bad - with sites in it that have shut down, or are just terrible examples of WordPress sites.
https://wordpress.org/showcase/
Can we get the bad ones removed? Or at least the duplicates?
Can we find out why the process or adding and moderating/removing sites has ground to a halt? (4 added in 2019, none in 2020)
Cheers
Colin

@casiepa yeah I would love to team up with you and get this maintained going forwared. I think your plan of action on it is spot on with what I would expect the first steps to be.
Do you think we would need any more people to get involved? It seems like at first just 2 people could manage it quite easily but when we reach the stages of designs we would likely want to bring in more poeple with design skills as well.
All sounds good to me though :)

Thanks for the report! In the time since this ticket was created, the WordPress Showcase was revamped with a completely new theme implemented and released.
The code is available at https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-showcase-2022, where development, feature requests, and bug reports are being handled.
As part of the site's relaunch, all listed sites were reassessed. As a result, there are no longer any bad/invalid/dead sites listed. I believe the plan is for the Marketing team to be responsible for maintaining the site content going forward.
@williampatton Is this something we could maybe work on together?
As WPTV rep, we already try to bring the up to date videos to the world. We could also help with the showcase if Marketing can no longer follow this.
