Description

Pages like https://wordpress.org/news/2008/03/wordpress-25-brecker/ display thousands of legacy pingbacks/trackbacks in the comments section. These add no value to the user and cause performance + SEO challenges.

These may be safely removed, and the functionality to create the disabled.

Makes sense. Pingbacks have been disabled for new posts for a while, but older posts probably still have them on. They don't have much value, so we can remove them.

  • Owner set to Otto42
  • Status changed from new to accepted

Pings have been bulk disabled on all posts. Removing the old ones may take some time. Hiding them may be faster, will take a look.

Nice one; happy from an SEO perspective if we can ditch them from the front-end, if that's easier than removing them completely.

Pingbacks hidden as a temporary measure until they can be either cleaned up or archived off in some yet-to-be-determined fashion.
