Currently it is possible to add more then one suggestion by different translators.

Description

At this moment it is possible to add more then one suggestion by different translators for the same original. This is far from ideal because the GTE/PTE needs to pick one he/she thinks is best. It makes the process of checking translations more time consuming, especially because the differences are sometimes very small. Also it gives translators with bad habits the opportunity to add their name to a translation, as most of the time the last added waiting string will be approved.

I have a mixed feeling about this. While I agree it's time-consuming I can also see the advantages. Like, if you are helping to translate a plugin, and you notice a mistranslation in waiting...

I honestly see both sides of the coin here. (As a CLPTE myself)

Curious to see where this goes. What can help maybe is that when there are more then one suggestion and one gets accepted, the other gets fuzzied or rejected...? Just thinking out loud here.

I don't see why this would be a problem. As a GTE you have to pick the perfect translation and if none exists, you still can override the various suggestions. It is not possible to copy a translation to push your name, so not the last, but the best translation will "win". What other workflow would you prefer?

I'm not seeing a problem either here. Not allowing others to submit a better translation until someone rejects/approves a translation is definitely more time consuming.

As mentioned before, it's not possible to submit the same translation again.

I'm not seeing a problem too.
But what about a warning for GTE/PTE stating that, over the same string, there's another translation suggestion.
I think that will be useful to GTE/PTE will be warned and, therefore, to be able to choose the best translation.

@nobnob is spot on with his last comment!
Currently there are to many waiting strings for some locales. The few people that can handle the suggestion tend to approve the shown waiting string. But that might not be the proper one and may even be worse than the first one suggested.
So to prevent this you would have to go into the suggestion and check the history!
That takes extra time.
So a warning label showing that there is another waiting string is present would be very helpful.
As this is obviously not addressed I need to spent more time checking translations
Thanks for commenting

You're welcome, Peter!
Your explanation is the one that deeply defines the problem.

Re-closing as wontfix since the suggested idea won't get implemented.

What you're looking for is https://github.com/GlotPress/GlotPress-WP/issues/621. I'll see what it's missing to get this into GlotPress.
