The core includes a ​new version of themes API v1.2, but the ​WordPress.org API page does not mention this new version.

Added some context to the page.

The WordPress.org APIs are not officially documented, and this codex page is a Wiki. The codex wiki is being deprecated and there's no official documentation that replaces this page.

Is this a choice or simply no one has done it?

Without proper documentation, how will a new core contributor understand the WordPress.org API to know what to do with core functions using it?
