Description

Hello,

Once uploaded, the photo's alternative text can't be edited.
For example, @audrasjb contributed with https://wordpress.org/photos/photo/88166f6dc5/ but made a mistake on the name which is "Couvent des Jacobins" instead of "Couvent des Capucins".

I think it would be great to allow the "owner" of the photo to edit the alternative text.

While we should absolutely have a process for fixing mistakes like this, I'm not sure we should let owners edit the alt text after publication.

They may not be aware of the mistake, since they also introduced it. Also, alt texts are often rewritten/expanded to be more descriptive for users with assistive technologies.

If we do allow this, we should monitor and moderate these edits. Ideally, the new text should be proposed, not published immediately. There's a potential for spam and other unwanted things.

Oh yes, that's understandable.
In the same way, adding a moderation step will increase job of volunteer
