Description
The proposed feature is to introduce a new section to WordPress.org user profiles called "Volunteered", similar to the existing "Photos" section.
This section would display the number of WordCamps an individual has volunteered for and provide an archive of the events where they contributed. WordCamp organizers could manage this feature via the WordCamp Admin dashboard by adding usernames of volunteers.
This enhancement serves two main purposes:
Encouragement: It highlights and credits individuals who regularly volunteer, motivating more people to contribute to WordCamps.
Recognition: It gives visibility to the consistent efforts of volunteers, acknowledging their contributions to the WordPress community.
Additionally, this aligns with the current Event Volunteer Badge system, further reinforcing the recognition volunteers receive.
Proposed Fields/Details:
Section Name: Volunteered
Data Included: Number of WordCamps volunteered
Archived list of WordCamps volunteered (with links if applicable)
Managed by: WordCamp Admins (via username assignment in the admin dashboard)
This feature can play a vital role in enhancing the volunteer experience within the WordPress ecosystem and promoting community involvement.

This is an excellent idea and an important way to recognize volunteers for their hard work. I didn't realize that this wasn't already a thing but now Satya has pointed it out, it definitely should be!

Either we can consider creating a dedicated WordCamp section that includes activity information, subdivided into the following subsections: Volunteered, Attended, Organized, and Speaker.
This approach would centralize all related information in one place, making it easier to recognize and credit individuals who regularly contribute to WordCamps/Events.

This is a great initiative to recognize WordCamp volunteers! I suggest also including a separate field for WordCamp Table Leads in this section. Highlighting their efforts will motivate more people to take on leadership roles and further contribute to the WordPress community.

Volunteers are truly the backbone of WordCamps. By adding a "Volunteered" section to user profiles, we can really showcase their amazing contributions. This feature will not only recognize their hard work but also inspire others to join in and make a difference.

This is a really good suggestion! 🙌
Adding a "Volunteered" section to user profiles would be very helpful. It can highlight how many hours someone has given to support the community and in what roles they have contributed.
It’s important because it not only recognizes the valuable time and effort of volunteers but also motivates others to start contributing. Plus, it helps show the impact and dedication of individuals beyond code contributions — like helping at WordCamps, mentoring, or supporting contributor days.
This would be a great way to encourage more community participation and make volunteer contributions more visible and appreciated. 💙🙏
Hi @hellosatya I totally agree with you, Here I would like add a screenshot for example, Now we are tracking the activity of WordCamp Attendence as well so we can add a section Events Attended as well + Speaked at as well.
