#7938 new defect (bug)

GTEs Unable to Create Events on translate.wordpress.org

Reported by: vgnavada's profile vgnavada Owned by:
Milestone: Priority: normal
Component: Translate Site & Plugins Keywords: has-screenshots

Description

Summary:

GTEs are unable to create or save events via https://translate.wordpress.org/events/new/.

This issue affects multiple GTEs and persists despite attempts to resolve it via role reassignment.

Reported By:

  • @vgnavada – GTE for Kannada (KN Locale)
  • @mkrndmane – GTE for Marathi (MR Locale)

Issue Description:
While attempting to create a new event, all required details were filled out, but upon clicking Save Draft or Publish Event, the system redirects to an error page. Here’s a screenshot of the error page encountered:

Troubleshooting Attempted:

Temporary Workaround:
Mr. @amieiro created the event on our behalf, and he was able to do so successfully. This suggests that the issue may be limited to certain GTE accounts or roles not being fully recognized by the system.

Request:
Kindly investigate the cause of this issue and help ensure that GTEs can independently create and manage their events without needing intervention from others.

On the priority for this, has this ever worked for GTEs? As far as I can tell, this might just be a broken permission check that has always existed, but would require a while to properly debug, and for now relying upon someone higher in Polyglots to set it up is not an unreasonable ask.

Yes one of GTE from Marathi Locale (@fitehal) had created event before.

Replying to mkrndmane:
Yes, this is really strange. Some GTEs can create, but others can't, even though they have the same roles.
