Description
This is a follow-up of #8009. The need for a better way to gather, process, and display feedback from the admins of WordPress websites became apparent during the discussion there.
The idea is to let the site admins submit anonymous feedback through the wp.org API. This will alleviate most privacy concerns, and will make it very easy to submit good quality feedback that was partially created automatically by WordPress.
The initial implementation would be for reporting plugin errors primarily after an update. The idea is for these reports to include information about any fatal errors that were caused by the update, the site health info, and to ask the site admins to add a brief description of any error(s) they see.
The reasons to send this through the API are:
- Reduce/aleviate privacy concerns. The users/site admins will not need to log-in and will not be submitting anything directly to the wordpress.org website.
- There can be filters in core to allow plugins access to the reports/feedback.
The submitted data will be made available to the plugin author(s). Possibly some can also be aggregated and posted to the plugin's support forum. For example: number of error reports (since the last update or for set period of time), if they include fatal errors, if they only happen when another plugin is being used, etc.
