#8089 new defect (bug)

FAQ accordion in WordPress Plugin Directory jumps to the clicked FAQ instead of smoothly expanding in-place

Reported by: jdahir0789's profile jdahir0789 Owned by:

Component: Plugin Directory Keywords: has-patch needs-testing

Description

On the plugin page https://wordpress.org/plugins/hook-locator/
, in the FAQs section, when a user clicks on a particular FAQ item to expand it, the page scrolls so the clicked FAQ is aligned at the top of the viewport.

Steps to reproduce:

Open the plugin page:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/hook-locator/

Scroll down to the FAQs section.

Click on any FAQ question to expand the answer.

The page scrolls so the clicked FAQ aligns at the top of the window, which is unexpected.

Expected behavior:

The FAQ should expand in-place without scrolling the page automatically. The user should stay at their current scroll position.
