New Theme repository design: Bad user experience/ Design issues

Description

I have the following issues with the current state (2015-02-06):

1) there's no link to a theme's author, I mean a link to its WordPress.org profile

2) the last updated date in the tooltip is confusing for new and existing users who are browsing the repository

3) missing link to theme page at the publisher's own web site: this is especially important for the users to get to a more "original" demo site of the theme --- the hosted preview at WordPress.org is not helpful at all to get an impression of the theme

4) there is no search filter for child themes yet - the current search functionality is a mess to say the least

5) no link to theme's own support forum/ tag on WordPress.org --- so it's totally unclear for the user where to get suppor and more info from the author/ publisher of the theme (see point 3 here too!)

there is no search filter for child themes yet

@daveshine: I've been wanting something like as well. I was thinking a list of child themes should be present on any parent theme that has them. Is that how you'd expect finding child themes to work? Or some other way?

@melchoyce:
Your suggestion is absolutely necessary and the right first step in my opionion.

From my personal wishlist:

  • A filter (feature filter) or even better a direkt link which lists all child themes (browsing)
  • When on a parent theme (i.e. Twenty Fifteen), list all available child themes for it below or in a sidebar -- or at least with a deep link to such a listing

Bonus: When on a single child theme view (in the browser) list other child themes for the same parent theme or at least a deep link to such a listing.

This would be a dream come true!
In my opinion there are more child themes "hidden" in the repo than are "findable"...!?

Absolutely, thanks for providing feedback!

Do you want to open an enhancement ticket for the child theme features? We can close this one then.
