#924 closed enhancement (wontfix)

No Logged In Account Meta Data being displayed can become confusing

Description

Although for the most part this is not a real significant item it would definitely go a long ways in the UX area of the theme repository to display the meta details of the logged in account (in a similar fashion as the plugins repository?)

For example: http://take.ms/BnoHv ... showing the Plugins repository

Something similar could be used for the Themes Repository.

PS: This is mostly an enhancement for those users that have need of multiple account. It would help them to identify which account they are specifically logged in with so there are less possibilities of making errors and or submitting updates under the wrong account.

Also, IIRC, this meta data on the logged in account was previously viewable on all theme repository pages, now it is nowhere to be found.

Actually, we plan on getting rid of that for the plugin repository as well. You don't need to know whether you're logged in or not there, because it should not matter. That's a remnant of the old bbPress being used, really.

If you have multiple accounts, then stop doing that. You should have one account. You don't need multiple accounts. That too is a remnant we want to eliminate, with things like multiple-author support. We don't have that on the themes directory yet, but soon.

I'd be happy to discuss the details of why I have need of two accounts outside of this ticket.

Also as noted in Slack where I first brought forward this (edge case?) issue, it's something I can adapt to but the issue was still suggested to be added as a Meta ticket all the same.

Update ... from discussions related to other matters it appears when logged in there should be an admin bar across the top of the page in the Themes repository. I am not seeing that admin bar.

@cais: You're not a user on the themes directory site yet. You should not see an admin bar. :)

Thanks ... just trying to sort out a different issue and thought it might be related.

Oops ... now see, this is how easily I'm confused at times (*grin*). I missed the point I was working under the other account when I wrote that reply.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Looks like this one is a won't fix.
