The translate system is not generating all the string from the readme.txt file

Description

Just finished translating to hebrew (he_IL) all the bbPress strings. Then I went translating the plugin page on the local repo - translating the readme.txt file.

At this point I noticed that I don't see all string from the plugin page are in translate.wordpress.org (See the screenshot).

Then I went to the original readme file to see what's wrong. Seems like they use wrong markup to show lists. If affects the local plugin page and the translation system.

See the attached screenshots, links and files.

The code from the readme file:

5a. If you have pretty permalinks enabled, visit yourdomain.com/forums.
5b. If you do not have pretty permalinks enabled, visit yourdomain.com?post_type=forum

= From WordPress.org =

1. Download bbPress.
2. Upload the 'bbpress' directory to your '/wp-content/plugins/' directory, using your favorite method (ftp, sftp, scp, etc...)
3. Activate bbPress from your Plugins page. (You'll be greeted with a Welcome page.)
4. Visit 'Forums > Add New' and create some forums. (You can always delete these later.)
5a. If you have pretty permalinks enabled, visit yourdomain.com/forums.
5b. If you do not have pretty permalinks enabled, visit yourdomain.com?post_type=forum

= Extra =

As you can see from the first screenshot, I finished translating all the strings to hebrew.

But the local repo some strings are not translated. And I can't find them on translate.wordpress.org .

In the readme.txt you can see all the strings, but they are not on the translate system.

I opened a separate ticket on bbPress track to fix the markup, but seems like the translate system needs to be fixed too (for other plugins).

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

bbPress updated to fix this. However, the problem here is not in the translation system, but in the markdown parsing. Invalid markdown can cause issues like this. The only fix is to adjust readme's as needed when it occurs.

Thanks Otto and Ramiy, we should be all done once the new strings are imported/updated per the bbPress ticket :)
