Include a link to the "Slack" word on make.wordpress.org

Description

On the https://make.wordpress.org/ homepage, the meeting times for each of the teams is listed and next to it it says "On Slack", for instance:

Tuesday, 16:00 CET (1 day from now) at #core-js on Slack

If you click on any of the teams for more info, there is a widget with a link to https://make.wordpress.org/chat/ but I feel it would make it easier for new contributors if the word "Slack" on the homepage itself was also a link to https://make.wordpress.org/chat/

Not sure how helpful it would be to have 20+ links to an entry page for the WP Slack instance. It would be possible to change it so that the on Slack part was a link (https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress.org/blob/trunk/wordpress.org/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wporg-meeting-posttype/wporg-meeting-posttype.php#L504), but again, not sure how much it adds.

Perhaps a general header information or other directing people to Slack page instruction could be added to the page?

Thank you @paulkevan

This is what I intended to suggest, yes.

Perhaps a general header information or other directing people to Slack page instruction could be added to the page?

This is an alternative path, sure.

I do not have a strong opinion on how to solve the issue, but I do feel it can be confusing for people to figure out "where" Slack is, as the info is currently only provided once they click on one of the individual teams.

Thank you!

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

I have reconsidered this idea and I feel it does not add that much value so I am going to close it as wontfix.
