If you include the symbol "→" in your "About Me" section, you'll notice a similar character on the user profile page at wp.org. Here's a link to an image showing what I mean: ​https://imgur.com/a/EAg4gcL

Confirmed, it comes from a span around the character inserted in the description and og:description. I believe those are added by jetpack in our case.
