Unexpected autocorrection on the new forums

Description

If I write WP.org on the new forums, it gets autocorrected to W.org on saving.

Now that WP.org belongs to the WordPress Foundation, this should no longer be needed.

Change History (4)

#1 @coffee2code

  • Component changed from International Forums to General
  • Owner set to coffee2code
  • Status changed from new to accepted

This is due to a global filter across all of w.org. I'll revert it shortly.

Fixed in [12255-dotorg].

Note that it is still preferable to use w.org instead of wp.org if you're linking. The w.org domain has some extra features in the redirection that wp.org is still missing.

For example, https://make.w.org works and redirects you to the correct place.

FWIW, I noticed this when using "WP.org profile" in a sentence, and "W.org profile" just reads weird to me :)
