Description

Hello,

Would love to see oEmbed enabled on Plugin Descriptions so if a URL for say Youtube is posted in the Readme that it's picked up and auto-embedded on the plugin page.

For example at the bottom of this description (click show more) you'll find a youtube link which would be better as the embed;
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpfront-user-role-editor/
(screen attached)

I hope I made sense,
Cheers

Related: #1723, #2270.

Looking at [4424], it appears that YouTube embeds should work as a shortcode:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRZdWH-uukI]

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Actually it DOES work...

https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/rickroll/trunk/readme.txt

Points to a closed plugin, I know, but I verified that it works.

Change this:

Spanish tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRZdWH-uukI

to this:

Spanish tutorial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRZdWH-uukI

It has to be on it's own line, just like in regular WP :)

Thanks guys,

The plugin developer updated their readme using the embed (thx @SergeyBiryukov) which worked;
https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/wpfront-user-role-editor/

And thanks for checking @Ipstenu glad to hear it's a non-issue, will go that approach in future.

All the best,
Cheers
