Plugin Directory: Review Uploader Limit of 25 Megs

Description

While in general this shouldn't be an issue (a plugin shouldn't be 25 megs) there have been less than five cases where zips 'appear' to be 16-20 megs and yet cannot upload due to size. In all cases, we've discussed making the plugin smaller with the developer and resolved the issues, however we may need to revisit this.

  1. Is 25 megs appropriate?
  2. Is the size-check accurate?
  3. Should we change the message to explain more why a larger plugin is a bad idea and offer alternate solutions?

I think option 2 and 3 should be taken into account. Is the size-check accurate? Not really, however for most plugins the 25 meg limit is logical. If it is over 25 megs default alternative solutions should be displayed and explain why it may be a bad idea.

Generally the solution is something along the lines of "Write a better plugin..." and "Do you REALLY need to include 10 megs of fonts/images?" Bloated libraries are the biggest cause.
