Description
We would like to have a Slackbot created that will respond when a new person joins the Design channel. This is the content:
Welcome! This all-volunteer team needs designers of various kinds. Here are some handy links to get started in our community:
- The Make WordPress Design blog is where you’ll find meeting agendas and summaries https://make.wordpress.org/design/
- We communicate in the Slack #design channel. If you have questions, this is the best way to contact the team.
- View our Trello Board to get an overview of major topics for the team https://trello.com/b/fnHScayo/design-team
- See our handbook for more details https://make.wordpress.org/design/handbook/
- Finally, introduce yourself in #design, and add your name to our running skills list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zCMyxskOK6q7M98WoIJNRLyMVESNBrRr4ji004zB7hE/edit#gid=0
Great to have you onboard :)

Maybe that same content should be added to the welcome banner/header on https://make.wordpress.org/design/ ?
Then in the interim, a link to that can be posted and the intended recipient will see all of that same content

@netweb It is there, but we often have folks that come into Slack looking for information. This is a handy shortcut that helps us answer them, that I've seen work to great effect on other Slacks. It only takes a couple seconds to set up.

I added the !design-welcome
Slackbot trigger, but then was quickly reminded that Slackbot doesn't support multiline answers, so removed it again.
I'll investigate the bot options to do this.

Okay, there's now a bot DM when people join the design channel.
It's kind of hacky, though, I'm not wild about it. If someone has some time to write a bot in the style of trac-bot, I'm happy to commit that. It should be able to handle DMing on channel join, or messaging the channel when the !design-welcome
command is triggered.

I meant this banner/header section:
Can we trigger this Slack response using
!design-welcome
?
