Description
'Work in progress' docs pages, like https://make.wordpress.org/design/handbook/design-guide/peripherals/buddypress/ and https://make.wordpress.org/design/handbook/focuses/block-directory/ should be noindex'd.
If we lack a consistent mechanism to do this (e.g., a UI control), this should be introduced.

If we lack a consistent mechanism to do this (e.g., a UI control), this should be introduced.
The mechanism would be for the team in question to either keep the post as a draft or mark it as private.
And I agree with Dion, the Block Directory page seems fine. Despite being marked as a WIP, it has valid content. The WIP disclaimer just conveys that it isn't complete.
However, yes, most of the Design Guide pages are indeed simply placeholder pages that have beein in place for over 7 years at this point.
Since there is no value in having these empty pages published, and having them available gives the false impression they contain content, I've unpublished the folowing pages:
- WordPress style guide / WordPress Core
- WordPress style guide / Peripherals (and its subpages WordPress Foundation, WordPress.tv, WordCampe.org, bbPress, and BuddyPress).
- WordPress.org / WordPress.org Typography
- WordPress.org / WordPress.org Metrics
To be clear, none of the pages had any actual content asides from a callout box noting "Work in Progress" and all still exist as drafts.
cc: @chaion07 @estelaris who are the current Design team reps to let them know about the change.
[10661] partially addresses concern, as buddypress page was caught by that.
The Block Directory page looks reasonable enough to me, even if it's marked as a WIP
