Trac no longer has its own favicon after wp.org header update

Description

Core Trac used to have its own favicon.ico (that red Trac paw logo). With the recently added unified header nav across wp.org, it now has the standard WP logo as its favicon.ico.

This is a bit unfortunate, as it's now no longer possible to easily distinguish e.g. bookmarks to Trac and other wp.org pages, e.g. in the browser's bookmark bar, or even when multiple tabs are open.

Could a different favicon.ico for Trac be restored? If the original Trac paw logo is undesired on its own, could it maybe be overlaid on top of the WP logo?

  • Component changed from General to Trac

I'm also used to being able to easily distinguish Trac tabs from others, so having the same icon everywhere is less than ideal for me. I would prefer either restoring the old icon, or making a new one, but different from other pages.

I noticed that the old icon does display sometimes, though not consistently, maybe it's just cached in the browser.

In 11499:

Trac: Restore the Trac favicon icon, instead of using the WordPress.org icon.

This makes it easier for Contributors to find their Trac tabs.

Fixes #6072.

In 11500:

Trac: Replace the unique block class names with a consistently generated ID for Trac.

This results in a simpler diff, showing the parts of the template that actually changed, rather than a dozen class names in various HTML items.

See #6072.
