Description
At the moment the "Log in" and "Register" Option is not visible at wordpress.org.
People has to go to a specific page to see the option "Log in".
In the menu only the follow pages has the login opion:
- themes
- plugins
- support
I have noticed some confusions for new WordPress.org members to found the login page, like on a contributor day.
I suggest to add the "Register" and "Log in" Link also to the homepage and pages, which are visible in the main menu, for a better consistency.
- wordpress.org
- showcase
- mobile
- get involved
- about
- blog
- hosting

My suggestion is to add a drop down to 'Get Involved' which includes a link to Login and Register. Easy fix, and technically, if you want to get involved and don't know how, that drop down ties everything up into one sub menu.
My 2 pence.

@danieltj I'm not convinced about this solution, cause it would make it harder to find the login and also not every wordpress.org user is a contributor.
For example if you just want to ask a question in the support forum you will need an account. But "get involved" does sounds right for these users.

+1. Even if we have to "fake it" (by creating a static copy of the admin bar header), there should be a login link on every page.

I agree, it would be nice to have a uniform login location across the platform. And we are working towards that goal by converting more and more parts of the platform to using WordPress (see the Theme and Plugin Directories and the recent support forum upgrade).
However I'm not so sure that creating a fake admin bar and integrating it in certain non-WordPress parts is the best use of our time right now. None of the sites and pages that don't have an admin bar really need to be logged into—they don't offer any kind of user interaction where that would be necessary.
This issue will be solved gradually, as more and more parts of dotorg are brought over to WordPress.
