Description
Hi,
I think it is better to mention translators/editors of plugins and themes in their official locale pages
For example we can add a block under contributors block to mention translators of that locale page language
Example:
for French locale, in this page:
https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/
We can add a block under contributors block to mention translators
if there are many translators, we can add 2-3 of them and a link to full page of that locale on translate.wp.org:
in this example:
https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/fr/default/wp-plugins/contact-form-7
In this way local users can reach exact locale translators for any modifications or ask for completing new version translations
And also we will give those translators a credit for their translations
I am sure in this way we encourage more people to participate in translations
This is same for themes too
Another things:
Could you please move the link of "Translate into your language"
from the popup to bottom of the line: Languages: See all 46
So users can see that link easily and may be they like to participate
It can be a grey centered link (like tags but a centered block text)
Thank you very much for your works

You could add two headings. One with "Translation Editors" (if existing) and one with "Translators". That way you can see really fast who to contact when you translated strings and they are waiting for approval for a while.

To me, the work around translations is much more about acknowledgement, good quality and cooperation than "hard numbers".
Let's say there's place to prominently show 2 or 3 translators. If there are more users listed among the contributors, the system could select what users to show at random. (Possibly using weighed randomness, so a big contributor runs a bigger chance of being shown.) Obviously, such a random selection would be cached for a day or so, and then a new selection would be generated, next time someone opens the same modal page again.
There are locales with a large number of general editors. Once you reach the translation pages you'll quickly find them, so no need to occupy scarce space for those names in this modal page.
The attached image above (translator-credit.png) is the visualization of this suggestion, based on the clarification made during the polyglots chat today.
I agree that showing translator credits will benefit the polyglots community by recognizing the effort made by translators.
