Plugin search: Bad results for localized searches

It seems like somehow (Jetpack updates?) localized search results have worsened. Take the search term woocommerce as an example:

Default search: ​https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/woocommerce/
German search: ​https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/search/woocommerce/

The german search does not even show the core WooCommerce plugin as a first result. Furthermore non-localized plugins (e.g. WooCommerce Amazon Pay) are listed way before more relevant results (better ratings, translated).

Did anyone experience the same issues with plugin search (affects the plugin search API as well)?

I believe this has mostly been resolved via #1496.

If the localised search results are still very poor, it would be appreciated if you can offer a few more examples and re-open this ticket.
