Description

wp.org has a download counter:

https://wordpress.org/download/counter/

In the local sites dashboard, we have the download counter per local:

https://he.wordpress.org/wp-admin/index.php?page=download-stats

The source code is in here:

https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/browser/sites/trunk/global.wordpress.org/public_html/wp-content/mu-plugins/downloads/rosetta-downloads.php

Can you use this code to create a "shortcode" for a local download counter?

[download-counter local="he_IL"]

This way, each local site can show a "download counter" for its local language.

OR, it can be a page-template in rosetta theme.

I don't see the need for this. The download counter already includes locale downloads.

In our community, developers always ask me for download stats for he_IL.

Each time I need to login to the dashboard and take a screenshot.

With a shortcode (or a page-template), I can create a public page like we have in wp.org:

https://wordpress.org/download/counter/ (General counter)
https://he.wordpress.org/download/counter/ (he_IL counter)

Going to close this in favor of #101

One of the original purposes of that ticket that wasn't clear previously but hopefully is now with the note I just added was to have a publicly available locale stats/counter page just as you've suggested here :)

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
