#7596 new enhancement

Adding Support Reps: Include an "I have read the support guidelines" checkbox

Description

Let's add a checkbox to the "Add Support Rep" form to have the plugin author that the person they are adding is aware of the Forum Guidelines.

I realize people tend to ignore checkboxes but having one there would be importante for two reasons:

  • Support Reps are sometimes full time employees and can lose their livelihood due to a mistake. This checkbox will make it less likely they will learn the hard way.
  • If a support rep gets modwatched or banned for breaking the guidelines, moderators will be able to point out that they had explicitly accepted those guidelines.

The major problem with this is that you're not actually verifying anything.

Asking the plugin author if the support rep has read it, is.. pointless.. They're just going to click the checkbox and no further action will be taken.

There's zero reason to believe that the support rep is even aware of the forum guidelines.

This is probably better off targeting the support reps directly.

One manner that it could be done, is having a banner at the top of the support forums that the actual support rep (and plugin authors!!) explicitly agree to dismiss.

The notice could even be versioned, so if the forum guidelines get updated, we can require that everyone gets the notice again.

I suspect showing the notice to everyone isn't needed - just those who have additional roles on the forums (Plugin author, support rep, moderator, etc)
